Anoxia has since been based off of a “Gimmick” if you will.  The members are actually referred to as “Guardians” and have been named as they’ve been summoned. Relic was the first and is now on his second evolution. Others, such as Dust, Gmork and some not mentioned as of yet are all part of of the creative process.

Laura:
What genre of music do you consider ANOXIA to be?

Chrystal:
Definitely hard rock with a little extra spice.

Laura:
What’s the ultimate direction for your band?

Chrystal:
I never really had a “plan” for Anoxia. When I started playing shows regularly I really just wanted to touch as many people possible. I believe that music possesses a healing power unlike anything else, the energy it brings can do amazing things.

Laura:
How would you describe your music making process? 

Chrystal:
I’ve always been told I write like Maynard James Keenan of TOOL, lol.  My writing style is to have the song finished before I give it a voice. I’ve always written this way.

Laura:
Why call the band, “ANOXIA?”

Chrystal:
While looking for a band name back in 2004 an ex in-law of mine had a “screen name” and in that was the word “Anoxia.”  I’m not sure why, but it just stood out to me so strong I had to have it.  When I finally got around to reading its definition I knew it was the one. You know the feeling you get when your foot falls asleep? That’s kind of how I feel as I’m getting on stage, and then it’s like a flip of a switch. It’s an indescribable high and this description is 100% accurate.

Laura:
What should fans expect to experience at a show?

Chrystal:
A lot of energy!  I’ve always been extremely theatrical and I believe in giving the fans a SHOW!  With the new gimmick and guardians there’s going to be plenty of things happening during our set you’re not going to want to blink.

Laura:
Typical question here.  Who has influenced you the most via music?

Chrystal:
Believe it or not I actually come from a karaoke background so I’m able to go from Martina McBride to 4 Non Blondes at the drop of a hat, lol.  The most influential women for me personally in music have been the iconic Stevie Nicks, Pat Benatar, Alanis Morissette, Joan Jett, Tori Amos and even Jewel. Just to name a few.

Laura:
How can fans and future fans locate, listen to and buy your music?

Chrystal:
ANOXIA is everywhere from YouTube to Spotify. I run all our socials and we also have a TikTok.  You can literally purchase our music and stream it on every platform available.

Laura:
Is there anything else you would like your fans to know?

Chrystal:
8 years ago I was silenced… a hiatus is never something ANY artist wants to experience but sometimes the universe makes you sit down for awhile. “The quiet” is over!  I’m not the same person I was almost a decade ago.  I’m stronger, wiser and more resilient than ever before! The very first full length album is in the works and should be ready to share, at the latest, summer 2023.  You guys never gave up on me and I’m not giving up on you!

Laura:
What is coming up next for ANOXIA?

Chrystal:
We recently released “Tears, I Bleed” the Forst single from the new album, make sure you check that out if you haven’t already. We’ve been working extremely hard on the studio on the full length album “Relinquish The Quiet.”  We’re anticipating an album release show and party by summer. We also have another single coming out very soon accompanied by a music video early spring. There’s another guardian who has awakened and he’ll be revealed as well.
